Germantown, Tenn. (October 29, 2012) – Anna Rodell, a senior at Evangelical Christian School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.
Rodell is one of six students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for Foreign Language. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. Anna and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis, Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Rodell is a top student who has a passion for Spanish. She plans to double major in Spanish and biology in college. She holds a 4.75 grade point average and scored 33 on the ACT with a perfect 36 on both English and Reading sections of the test. Rodell has been named a National Merit Semifinalist and has been inducted into the National Honor Society and Beta Club.
During the past two summers Rodell has participated in a Spanish program through the University of Mississippi. She stayed in the college dorm for one month each summer with students from across the country taking Spanish 101 and 102 in 2011 and 201 and 202 in 2012. Rodell is a four-year Spanish student and received the Spanish award every year.
The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its 7th year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators. Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, LeMoyne-Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
